Climate change is something that we’ve all heard about, but many people don’t take the time to consider what it really is and what it’s doing to our planet, or more specifically, oceans and reefs. My drawing, "In Our Hands," tries to demonstrate what’s going on. The hands each hold different things that are either a result or cause of climate change. In the middle of the drawing is the Earth, which the hands are reaching towards because they are handing all of this to our planet. Polluting cars, bleached coral, dying animals and more are all somewhere on Earth suffering or causing the suffering. But I want people to know that there’s something they can do. The title refers to the fact that the effects of climate change are literally in the hands, but it can also be interpreted in a different way. The fate of the Earth was and is in our hands. We have done and still do damage, but the matter of climate change really is in our hands. We can either continue hurting this planet, or do something to try to help.
