Reflection
“Kuebiko” was inspired by the delicate and natural aesthetic of Alphonse Mucha’s and Japanese Sumi-e artwork. I chose to use watercolors for this piece in order to achieve a vibrant translucency that portrays a sense of fragility and clarity. The composition of “Kuebiko” suggests hope after disaster. The lady that I depicted is backed by a ray of gold and colors that seem to overpower the drab and hopeless garbage pile below. I want the viewers to not feel depressed from the current state the Earth is in, and to feel that there is a beautiful life ahead if everyone comes together to help.
