Reflection

As someone who has lived feet away from the beach my whole life, I find that the ocean is somewhere I can always find safety. It is an environment that is a place of comfort and home. I have been dancing since I was 3 years old and I find such passion in it because it allows me to express myself in ways not many others have the blessing to. This piece brought about the feeling of being a part of something bigger: the earth. The message I translated through my choreography and editing is that the earth and the beautiful ocean it gives us a place we can always return to. It will be here to keep us grounded and at peace. I have learned that our oceans are polluted beyond what we may think. Tons of garbage has been collecting in the water that thrives on our earth. My piece shares a message of community to us all and how just like the ocean feels like my home, it is really a home for us all.
