Reflection

Like many others, when I first looked at the problem of sea level rise, I thought it was simply caused by melting ice. I didn't pay much attention to it and no one around me mentioned it. When I came to the Ocean Awareness Contest, I researched and learned the root causes of this problem. I was surprised that I could have ignored them before. I want to convey my feelings when reading news–stories of floods, thunderstorms–understanding the danger that people in coastal areas have to face and the emotion of noticing that so many people are suffering while I am comfortable. But in those negative emotions, there is always hope. When small people raise their voices, society is forced to listen.
