I feel empathy for our oceans. Hearing all the terrible things that have been happening – from the water levels rising to the 5 gyres where trash collects – makes me want to do more to help. Learning that newer trash that goes into the ocean usually gets washed up to shore before going back into the ocean makes me hope that we can all work together to clean it up. Knowing that the waters are rising makes me scared, especially since I live in San Francisco. From scientists’ predictions, it seems like it's rising so much that it will flood all of the coastal cities. I want to take action and help our oceans. There are easy ways for us to start, by picking up the trash at beaches, checking if the garbage cans are full and not letting them overflow, and just speaking up when someone litters. If we all do our part, the waves that carry us, will carry us to a better future.
