Come to the Winners’ Art Exhibition!
April 21, 2015

Anyone in the area of Portsmouth, NH?  Come see a ~STEAMY~ (Art + STEM = STEAM) art gallery opening this Saturday, April 25th at the Seacoast Science Center.  It features the work of the 2014 Ocean Awareness Student Contest winners who used art and science to give the oceans a voice.

SSC Exhibit 1 (1)

SSC Exhibit 1 (2)

The exhibit is free with admission, and open through June 17th.  Fine giclee prints of the winning teen artists will be available for purchase, and the 100% of the proceeds go back to the student artist and ocean conservation efforts.

Students, want to be in this exhibit next year?  Come see the exhibit and see the cutting edge of art, science, and advocacy for the ocean.  Or if you’re not nearby, watch this TED Talk by our friend Dianna Cohen to get the ideas flowing, and then create something that combines the stark, pressing scientific marine research and your gut emotional feeling about plastic pollution.

Teachers, want to see your student in this exhibit next year?  Bring your students to the Seacoast Science Center to see the exhibit.  Or teach a short unit on plastic pollution and then challenge them to recreate the information in art, poetry, prose, or film.  Or teach an art, poetry, prose, or film unit, and use the TED Talk as an inspirational prompt to get the creative juices flowing.  Once their masterpiece is ready, submit it online at http://www.bowseat.org/contest.php
