The 2023 Future Blue Youth Council Application is Now Open!
September 21, 2022The Future Blue Youth Council (FBYC) is a diverse, international group of Bow Seat program alumni who work together to advance our mission and to empower their peers to advocate for our environment. We are excited to begin accepting applications for our third FBYC cohort!

Bow Seat alumni (students who have participated in any of our programs, such as the Ocean Awareness Contest; Healthy Whale, Healthy Ocean Challenge; and/or the Marine Debris Creative Advocacy Competition) ages 16-21 are invited to apply. 2023 Council members have the opportunity to earn up to $1,200 USD for their work on various projects during their one-year term, including:
- Helping to expand the reach of Bow Seat’s programs through community outreach, social media, blog writing, and more;
- Supporting Bow Seat’s by-youth, for-youth environmental grantmaking program, from reviewing applications to mentoring existing projects;
- Contributing to group initiatives, such as the annual Future Blue Magazine;
- And more!
In addition to joining a supportive community of other young environmentalists from around the world, FBYC Council members will connect with experts in the fields of conservation and creative advocacy, gain experience working with a nonprofit and mentorship from Bow Seat staff, and strengthen communications, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
