The first thing that popped up in my mind after reading about climate impacts on the ocean was those graceful, mesmerizing ocean creatures. What will happen to them if the ocean continues getting warmer? I decided to draw for them. I illustrated the movement of those beautiful ocean creatures flying to the sky like angels, leaving the dark, polluted world. The golden ring above the whale’s head represents its death, which is caused by the polluted, hot ocean. The movement of whales flying to the sky represents their forced migration; yet, this time it is not just from one place to another—it is from the earth to a new world, or sadly, the heavens. I drew this art to ask people to reflect on the question: if one day there are no longer oceans or ocean creatures, will you be regretful? The little baby represents the next generation and their unwillingness to let go of the whales; he tries to catch the whales but fails to bring them back. The top of the art represents a new, hopeful world; yet, the bottom represents a dark world—the polluted earth.
