Reflection
Recently, I saw a picture of a dead seabird filled with plastics inside its stomach. This one picture made me so shocked that I even had a doubt if it was real. The meaning of my painting is to mock society with a contrast between the appearance of the seabird and the house of the humans inside the stomach. The goal was to criticize the human, who destroys the environment by our common behaviors, such as using too much water, not recycling, turning on unnecessary lights and electric devices. I intentionally used a flat design and pastel tone of color for the human’s home to show the horrifying reality happening more extremely; the dead seabird is painted with a delicate and realistic touch. I hope a lot of people feel ashamed through my artwork and try to be a part of the change for our broken world.
