Reflection
This year, my science teacher showed us a documentary film in class about how humans have tried to save the ozone layer. While the film was informative, it was my teacher’s comment on our potentially gloomy future that truly inspired me to conduct thorough research on this topic. I was aware that there must be people who have put tremendous effort into fighting climate change. So, I wanted to appreciate the people who have put effort into stopping climate change and highlight their efforts, sharing their stories to encourage others (our future is not so gloomy!). As there is often less discussion about leading efforts to combat climate change, I wanted to bring this issue to public attention. In order to create my video, I researched global efforts to slow climate change. While the findings showed that we need to enhance our efforts to save the planet, they also showed that collective action can bring positive results. My aim was to inspire my audience to believe that we can heal our climate if we work together, just as we did with the ozone layer. Although climate change remains a significant challenge, there is still hope. Individual actions like recycling can be of help but I am sure we can participate in public campaigns from simple initiatives like organizing a day for environmental activities, such as drawing contests or community walks instead of car rides, to more complex actions. Through local and community-level actions, we can make a meaningful impact on healing our climate.
