Reflection
Because my family members are creators, I feel most alive when creating too. Besides dancing since I was three, I love baking and decorating cakes, giving away my paintings as gifts, experimenting with hair and makeup as I love wearable art, and modeling and taking photos of others so they can see the beauty I see in them. All this creation led to my children’s book, 'Biscuit & Buttercup Lend a Fin,' to save the seas I love. What moved me to action was Robert Ballard’s TED talk, which introduced me to the wonders under the sea. Who knew that deep in the ocean, there are shipwrecks from Homer’s time where, due to the anoxic environment, the sailors and amphora dripping with honey are intact? We humans tend to think what we cannot see or what appears to not affect us is not important. My book shows the world it is. Water is life, and the health of it and all the creatures in it is our oxygen system.
