As someone who grew up in a family of explorers, it is a dream of mine to see as much of the ocean and its inhabitants as I can and be able to revel in its beauty. Coral reefs are some of the most amazing and lively areas of the ocean and are the places I hope to visit the most. Unfortunately, many of these organisms and species are being horribly impacted by the effects of climate change, including rising temperatures and acidification due to the greenhouse effect caused by pollutants from emissions. The ocean, which spans across over 70% of the earth, is dying, and its beauty is dying with it. I hope that with the visual I have created, the image of dying corals encroaching on those that are still healthy and beautiful will bring awareness to the severity of this issue: that the corals reefs around the world are being killed faster than they can recover. I hope that one day I, followed by my children and my children’s children, will be able to enjoy the natural beauty of these reefs, but this will not happen if humanity continues to let the world be destroyed.
