Reflection
Art has always been the way I express myself. I wished to express not a specific problem of climate change, but the accumulation of multiple issues. These issues include ocean temperatures rising and the effect it has on corals and marine animals and how the production of plastic affects the ocean. From this project, I learned that not all "recyclable" material are what they appear to be. As a Vice President on my school's Student Council, I created a game that could be played at lunch to teach people that there are surprisingly few items that can be recycled. For example, juice boxes have a plastic coating inside of them meaning they cannot be recycled. Teaching people and spreading awareness will always make me proud of myself. In creating the painting, I was worried: will people be able to understand all my intentions? I try my best to make my messages clear, and hope that people will be able to understand: It is not one problem we are facing, but many that are entangled together.
