Reflection

I thought that this was a humorous approach to the subject as it shows a more gruesome evolution of the human species instead of the more common mermaids that we are used to seeing in fairytales. I tried to imagine what life would be like if all our cities sunk, and I thought that the human tendency to domesticate animals would result in sharks becoming pets. This seems like a very dystopian image, but there is actually a tribe called the Moken that have evolved over the years to be able to see underwater more clearly than the average human since they are sea nomads. I wanted to show my viewers an inevitable future of of the human species if we did not take immediate action. My title for the art reflects this, as it is a spinoff of the latin word for humans 'Homo Sapiens' (Wise Man) to 'Homo Marinus' (Aquatic Man).
