Reflection
Being lucky enough to live right off of the beautiful cove along the Long Island Sound, I have always appreciated the flora and fauna, and I also understand how easily such an environment can be taken away. On Earth Day, my town organizes a clean up of the park across from my house, in which we have picked up tires, bottles, tarps, kayaks, umbrellas, etc. My friend began a Leave No Trace club at my school, which I have been a member of since my sophomore year. When he left for college, I took over, and I wanted to make a short film that promoted our message in a very simple, visual way. As someone who is passionate about nature, it is important for me to make individual contributions to keeping our planet clean, but also to do what I can to organize others. I have made an effort as the Leave No Trace club’s president to enlist underclassmen so that our efforts continue even when I go to college.
