I found deep hope in the lives of the people of the Banyak Islands, which is my hometown as one of thousands of islands that are at risk of disappearing due to rising sea levels. The painting I made is my expression of the future change of the area. There is a village in the middle of the sea that is sinking due to rising sea levels, as a representation of climate change, which has caused chaos and worry that occurs in my hometown. I found strength in memories and hope as a desire to survive, a symbol manifested in a glimmer of land full of memories in the shape of a circle that I painted. In this case, I encourage a sense of love and concern for the environment and natural heritage as a manifestation of natural beauty and emotional ties to our hometown. For me, this painting is not only a form of expression of my creativity but also a tool to convey messages and unite the community. I want to convey the message and continue to learn about the importance of protecting our environment and inspire hope that creates collective strength in facing these challenges. With this awareness, it is certainly hoped that there will be developers developing environmental protection strategies and fighting for policies that protect both our hometowns and other hometowns on other islands throughout the world that are at risk in the future.
