Greenpeace's recreation of Noah's Ark climate disaster inspired my painting. I wanted to use the biblical story of the great flood as a humorous, yet powerful means of imagining anthropogenic global climate change in the 21st century. In all parts of the world, global warming has had adverse effects on the climate. The left side of my drawing portrays the destruction caused by forest fires and how they can displace wildlife. The right side of my artwork depicts a house being swept away by a flood. Noah spends decades building the ark, but no one believes it is necessary or takes action to change the situation. Similarly, with the threat of climate change looming over our heads due to our endless materialistic pursuits, modern society chooses to remain ignorant and resist this unavoidable reality. History will repeat itself if people choose to remain ignorant and continue in their ways. Nevertheless, history is also a testament that we have persevered in the face of adversity. A rainbow signifies hope, a new beginning, and a brighter future. Let us be inspired by Noah and the tale of the great flood to transform the fate of our planet.
