Reflection

Our planet is warming. There’s no question about it and we are the cause. Climate change is humanity’s greatest threat, affecting the entire planet simultaneously and rapidly. However, climate change is different than other threats to our survival. There are events that will inevitably occur, such as pandemics, wars and natural disasters, but climate change can be manipulated. It’s malleable. This is our cimate change and we can reverse the effects of our civilization. My film uses a collection of quotes from people who passionately support the awareness of climate change. I was both inspired by them and realized that a film using such powerful words would touch people on all levels. The music underscores the visuals and quotes. I wanted a piece that would allow me to do a fast-paced sequence of images. Furthermore, all the images used were either sources of climate change or effects. The message I wish my film to project is that although we have made many mistakes regarding climate change, there’s still time and we can move forward with a new world view. Personally, I’ve learned that climate change is something anyone can help lessen: simple acts such as using a reusable water bottle makes a massive difference. It’s small actions such as these that give me hope on such a large overwhelming issue. Creating this film has extended my knowledge on this topic and I wish to focus more on this issue in my upcoming environmental classes at school.
