Reflection
Using white color pencil on black paper to portray the flow of pollution in the formation of a person’s face, I depicted the permanent effects of water pollution on us. The contrast of white and black functions as a metaphor that represents the everlasting effects of pollution to us. Furthermore, I demonstrated how water pollution is an inescapable real problem that must be dealt with immediately. Through the embodiment of the white pollution, flows as a man’s face, I wanted to break the typically held belief that water pollution is not harmful for humans. By doing so, I emphasize the fact that water pollution not only has severe impacts on the marine animals, but also on us individuals, and I successfully deliver the sense that our bodies, as well as our world, are conquered by these harmful pollutants. Through this piece, I also wished to evoke a sense of urgency in the viewer by accentuating on the fact that these pollutants are inescapable unless we take action. I wish to raise awareness of the magnitude of water pollution in the world and highlight the severity of the problem at stake.
