My mixed media art piece made with watercolour, paint, pencil and pen displays the expressive marriage of colours, textures and shapes I have associated with the natural beauty I have grown up with. My painting is not only uniquely characterized by its rendering of historical art creations, such as Michelangelo's 'David' and Katsushika Hokusai's 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa,' but also draws inspiration from these artists' purpose in creating such visually captivating pieces. Much like Michelangelo who created the classical 'David' to represent mankind's ideal strength and diligence, or Katsushika Hokusai who created 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' to display the reckoning force of nature, I have created 'The Flourishing Strength between Man and Nature' to honour the beautiful union of these two immeasurable powers: nature and man. Unfortunately, the latter force has overpowered Mother Earth for far too long through pollution, deforestation and much more. However, I believe that with hope and faith anything can be achieved, even reversing such man-made disasters to ultimately reach an ideal balance with Earth. Thus, I have represented identifiable artistic symbols of nature, humans, and their force which combined can potentially reverse climate change. The positive effects of such a collaboration have been displayed through delicate flowers in bloom, the perfect symbolism of rebirth. Finally, the golden circle in my piece represents the light at the end of the dark and turbulent tunnel that we continue to travel towards in hopes of creating a better Earth for future generations.
