Climate Hero: Robert Redford, The Redford Center

Reflection
I have always found a home in films. They filled my childhood, and my appreciation for them exponentially increased as I got older. Robert Redford was always one of those actors who stood out to me, mainly for his talent. Later in my teenage years, I happened to stumble upon The Redford Center on YouTube, specifically through Redford’s’ interview with Mark Ruffalo. This Contest allowed me to do further research on one of my favorite topics, films. I began this process by doing a hefty amount of research, and I found countless facts and misconceptions about climate change and Hollywood. For instance, a recent report by the University of South Carolina found that some of Hollywood's biggest films had an average CO2 emission of 3,380 tons. By exposing some unfortunate information on many current movies, I moved on to the positive action of Robert Redford and The Redford Center. Through millions of dollars of support given to the environmental filmmaking community, billions of people will be affected, even in simple, minor ways. We need more people like Robert Redford, willing to stand against climate change.
