Reflection
The artwork was inspired by the famous painting by Dalí "La persistencia de la memoria". In his piece, the deformed clocks, inspired by Camembert cheese are melting due to sun's heat, warning us: "this is the last moment". I have transposed this on to tunas, seals, turtles and other endangered marine species. The craggy rocks on the right represents a tip of Cap de Creus and it shows the remains of Arctic glaciers that are slowly disappearing as the result of global warming. In the center, the surreal self-portrait is presented as a dead polar bear as the symbol of an animal species that's "on top of the pyramid" disappearing as a consequence of humans' bad behavior towards the ecosystem. The clock on its back, ticking until "the last moment", completes the apocalyptic picture that is warning us to ultimately start to take care of climate change that is a threat to all of us. Otherwise, the apocalypse will become reality.
