I decided to write a song about global warming's effect on the ocean and what people can do to help the situation. In the prechorus, I listed specific actions people can do to help prevent the progression of global warming. In the chorus, I listed the specific issues global warming has caused in the ocean. I wrote a song because I thought it would be a good way to artistically communicate everything I wanted to talk about the subject. Music is very important to me, and I believe that songs are a way to communicate meaningful issues directly. Songs make you think, because the prettier the melody, the more people tend to listen to the lyrics you have written. I have been playing music since first grade. I travel to music festivals to perform because it is something I love to do. I only began writing music two years ago. I recorded my first demo last year. However, I do not usually write songs about global issues. I prefer to write about personal topics which allow me to establish an emotional connection with those who listen. Writing about global warming was interesting because that kind of writing was new to me. The writing process was fun yet challenging because it was a style I had yet to explore. I am inspired by many musicians. I mostly listen to acoustic artists such as Gordon Lightfoot or Gracie Abrams. I find acoustic music very tranquil and beautiful. I also play and listen to rock but I didn't think this song would work in rock music. Music is a form of art that everyone enjoys because everyone listens to music. I think a song is the best way to communicate all your thoughts in an interesting and captivating way.
