Celebrating Our 2021 Accomplishments

Whew! What a year! As 2021 comes to a close, we all deserve to give ourselves a major pat on the back for the changes we’ve had to navigate in our everyday lives and the challenges we’ve overcome.

As our student artists, educators, and partners demonstrated, humankind can be incredibly resilient, galvanized by a creative spirit that persists in times of hardship and acts as a beacon of hope.

We are in awe at the tidal wave of voices that continue to rise for our blue planet – from the record number of submissions we received for our 2021 Ocean Awareness Contest to the inspiring youth-led environmental projects that applied for our first-ever Fellowship Program.

While we still have much work to do to meet critical goals like 30×30 and Net Zero emissions, we are incredibly grateful for these voices, and the ways in which our community continues to share and support our mission. As the past year has demonstrated, together, we can accomplish great things!

We are so grateful for another year of Bow Seat programming and the ability to reach so many young people from around the globe. Our international student community has a tremendous spirit of solidarity, activism and dedication. These young teens certainly understand that it takes both local and global action to make a difference in our world and their creative works speak in new and different contexts that show we are on the verge of a great transition—a transition to a more equitable and sustainable future where taking care of our planet means taking care of ourselves.
