When I started doing research on ocean pollution, I had little understanding of this issue. When I saw images on the Internet, I quickly realized how big of a problem it really is. I wanted to further my understanding about how this happens, how it affects marine life, and how to avert this from occurring. You’d think I would know more about ocean pollution before doing this project, since I did grow up near the beach. At a young age, I didn’t realize that the trash near the beach would sooner or later get into the ocean. Let’s be real, we all have used plastic water bottles or plastic bags at some point. These plastics contribute to the death of thousands of marine animals every year. My artwork represents marine animals being affected by plastics in our oceans.
