Reflection
I created this film in an attempt to speak out to any viewer. I wanted to release a universal perspective on plastic pollution. I think we have all experienced an enjoyable connection to the ocean. In my film, I wanted to depict not only the beauty and love most of us have for the ocean, but also I wanted to open viewer’s eyes to just how much we should be held accountable to this issue. I chose plastic pollution because it is almost completely human caused. Eighty percent of pollution to the marine environment comes from the land. Even more shocking is we have produced more plastic over the last ten years than we ever produced during all of the last century. It’s quite eye opening to realize that we’ve made such a drastic effect. The worst thing about plastic pollution is that plastic is not really biodegradable, the plastic that floods our oceans will sit there for years. I care for this issue personally because it’s something bigger than any of us. Whatever we do right now will affect us, the animals who live in the ocean, and the future state of our oceans. We are the pioneers of the future and regardless of how old we are or what we believe in, nobody else is responsible for this other than us. I hope this film speaks to people’s hearts and minds, to realize, take action, and to believe that we can do this all together.
